Maarten Lammens was born on 26 December 1974 and has been considered one of the most renowned koi doctors in Europe for many years. He has years of practical experience and above-average theoretical knowledge of the behaviour and care of these extraordinary fish.
After graduating with honours with a bachelor's degree and also with honours with a master's degree in veterinary medicine, he specialised in fish diseases for two years at the Department of Bacteriology at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Ghent. During this time, he was one of the heads of the fish clinic. He then continued his education by attending lectures and academic presentations on fish diseases and water management at the University of Ghent. His knowledge of the theoretical aspects of fish farming and its practical application has enabled Dr Maarten Lammens to regularly publish scientific articles in recognised national and international trade journals.
