Disposal
and scrapping of old equipment

Old appliances do not belong in household waste! Old electrical appliances contain valuable resources that can be recovered and reused in recycling processes. However, they also contain harmful substances that must not be released into the environment under any circumstances.

The crossed-out wheelie bin symbol on your electrical and electronic equipment indicates that old appliances must not be disposed of with household waste, but must be collected separately.

You are obliged to dispose of your old electrical appliances at an official collection point, for example at your local recycling centre. Koi Company is also obliged to take back old electrical appliances.

How does Koi Company fulfil its obligation to take back old appliances?

As a retailer, we are also obliged to take back old electrical appliances. We will handle, recycle and dispose of them professionally and free of charge for you in accordance with legal requirements. Please note the following processes:

1. Return of large appliances via freight forwarder (after your purchase from us):

After you have purchased an electrical appliance from us, we will take back a comparable old appliance free of charge in accordance with legal requirements.

Please note the following:
Appliances that weigh more than 30 kg, have a girth of at least 3.00 m when shipped, or have a side length exceeding 2.00 m will be shipped by us via a shipping company. In this case, please contact us.

How it works:

  • When making your purchase, select the free old appliance collection service as an additional service. Then please contact our customer service team by email at
    info@koi-company.de
  • The old appliance must be dismantled and ready for collection. This means that it must be disconnected from the electricity and water supply, for example, and any residual water, e.g. in heat pumps, must be drained.

2. Return of small appliances via parcel service providers (after your purchase from us):

After you have purchased an electrical appliance from us, we will take back a comparable old appliance free of charge in accordance with legal requirements.

Please note the following:
How it works:

  1. For old appliances that are eligible for return, you will find a note in the online shop under the selected item regarding the possibility of old appliance collection. Old appliances eligible for return for collection from your home are, without exception, the following appliance categories:
    - Category 1 (heat transfer devices, e.g. refrigerators),
    - Category 4 (appliances with an edge length of more than 50 cm).

Lamps and small appliances with an edge length of less than or equal to 50 cm (categories 3, 5 and 6) are excluded from home collection.
  2. To return your old appliance, please contact our customer service team by email at info@koi-company.de. Please let us know which appliance you would like to return for disposal (name and model number) and tell us your preferred return process (in both cases, the return is free of charge for you):

    A GLS return label:
We will send you the return label by email and you can take the old appliance to your nearest GLS shop.

    Or
    collection from your home:
This will be carried out within 2–3 working days by the parcel service GLS

. In either case, the old appliance must be securely packaged for transport.

Don't feel like packing it up? Simply bring your old appliance with you when you come to make your purchase or dispose of it at your local recycling centre.

Data protection:

Your data belongs to you! Therefore, before handing in your old devices, please ensure that you delete all personal or sensitive data stored on them.

Caution with batteries, rechargeable batteries and lamps

For safety reasons, batteries, rechargeable batteries and lamps that are not permanently installed in devices should be removed and disposed of separately before returning the old device. Please use the collection containers provided in shops to return batteries, rechargeable batteries and lamps. For lithium batteries, tape over the battery terminals to prevent short circuits.
