The Superbead filter is the first bead filter that can be used in both pump and gravity-fed systems. This sets it apart from many other filter systems. If you want to enlarge your pond or convert from a pump to a gravity-fed system, you don't need to replace the filter; you can simply convert it with a few add-ons. Superbead filters are ideal for swimming ponds.

Advantages of the Superbead filter

  • Suitable for energy-saving pumps
  • No additional air pumps (blowers)
  • Low energy consumption
  • Removes dirt larger than 20 micrometres

Use of the filter as a pump version
Thanks to their special design, you can also use Superbead filters if you do not have a gravity system. This is possible with the Superbead small up to 10 m³ and the Superbead large up to 15 m³. To operate, use a normal pond pump (small: approx. 13,000 litres/hour – large: 16,000 – 20,000 litres/hour), connect the bead filter to a UVC unit, and the entire filter unit is ready. Due to the increased amount of dirt entering the filter, you must ensure that the internal slotted pipe is cleaned several times a year. Otherwise, no additional cleaning work is required apart from the normal rinsing process.

Use of the filter as a gravity version
If you want to convert an existing pond into a gravity pond, the pond will normally become larger and a new filter system will be necessary. With the Superbead filter you already have, this is not necessary. Connect your floor drains and skimmers to a new slotted screen and then use the existing Supersieve as a filter. In this configuration, the Superbead small is suitable for 25 m³ and the Superbead large for 50 m³.

Brief description of how it works

  • The roughly pre-filtered water is pumped into the filter.
  • The beads float to the top and remain there.
  • The beads retain fine dirt particles down to 20 micrometres.
  • Biological filtration takes place on the surface of the beads.
  • The trapped dirt is regularly removed by flushing the filter.

Bead filter rinsing
process Every bead filter is characterised by a rinsing process. The trapped dirt particles must be rinsed out of the filter. Unlike modified sand filters, the SuperBead was developed specifically for this rinsing process.

  • Before rinsing, the pump is switched off.
  • The 3-way valve is then switched so that the water from the bead filter can flow into the drain.
  • The non-return valve prevents water from flowing back from the pond.
  • Air now flows into the filter through a valve and the water shoots out (like the principle of an inverted cola bottle).
  • This loosens the dirt on the beads and removes the dirty water.
  • I can see the dirt in the sight tube.
  • If there is a lot of dirt, the process can be repeated.
  • When the filter is clean and empty, I close the 3-way valve again and start my pump.
  • The filter refills and filters my pond.

Wasserwerte Top. Alles in allem vielleicht 5 Minuten insgesamt.
