Function:
The valve flap opens or closes completely when there is a relatively small change in the water level below the sieve element. This keeps the water level below the sieve element high and very stable in the SuperSieve. This is important to prevent air intake by the pump.
The screen element is carefully sealed against the housing itself with special rubber seals so that no water (and therefore no dirt) can pass the screen element.
The water is directed to the screen element by baffles. A guide plate is also mounted under the screen element to ensure that the water flows smoothly as far away as possible from the 90 mm pump connections.
The SuperSieve is equipped with several 90 mm pump connections, which means that an additional skimmer pump can also be connected separately.
Internal overflow:
The internal overflow of the screen is the distance between the top edge of the housing and the point at which the water inside is directed to the screen element. The greater this distance, the better and more flexibly the screen element can be used. Since the water enters the SuperSieve via communicating pipes, the maximum water pressure available for this depends on this distance. A height difference of 26 cm corresponds to a water pressure of 0.026 bar. This water pressure is required to transport the water from the pond to the screen. During installation, the SuperSieve must already be 3 cm above the maximum water level, taking into account fluctuations in the water level. If the water level drops by 5 cm (e.g. due to flushing the filter), the pressure drops from 0.026 to 0.018 bar. If a screen has a height difference of only 17 cm, only 9 cm remains in this case, i.e. 0.009 bar, to transport the water through a pipe from the pond to the screen. This often leads to critical situations because too little water reaches the screen. This often causes the pump to take in air, resulting in disturbing noises and cavitation (faster wear) on the pump.
