The Koi Company currently employs 18 permanent staff.

Through regular training with veterinarians, professional associations and various manufacturers of our products, our employees receive ongoing training so that you, as a customer, can always be well advised.

However, as not everyone can know everything, we ask for your patience when answering your questions until the employee responsible for your area of interest can provide you with competent assistance.

Below, we would like to briefly introduce our team to you personally:

Marcus Reichhold

Managing Director

With the company since 2007, originally at home in upscale gastronomy. A two-year "internship" turned into a permanent position. My only concern was always whether I would miss the close contact with guests, as was the case back then with 3-4 hour dinners. Because that's where you built relationships. But far from it, we have many more regular customers who often provide us with "breakfast", bring their photo albums and now talk to us about their favourites in a friendly manner. Since then, I have gained a lot of experience. Through many visits to various breeders in Japan and by getting stuck in, I was able to learn a lot about koi. In 2025, I took over the company from my father and have been the sole managing director ever since. I am now very proud to be at the helm of the company, having steered it through these difficult years, and I look forward every day to working with my employees and the more than 40,000 customers we serve and support.

Stefanie Stafford

Accounting/Purchasing Expert

She has been with us almost since the beginning. She was the first assistant to support Burkhard Reichhold, whether it was answering the answering machine or covering for him when he was on holiday. As the company grew, she became fully involved. As a result, she knows many of our long-standing customers personally and is known as the "voice on the phone" of the company. She can even answer specific questions about "old products from back then". Due to our size, she now mainly takes care of the bookkeeping. Stefanie ensures that we always have sufficient goods in stock for you, that all payments are made on time, and takes care of dozens of other small and large daily tasks that would only bore you, but without which we would not function as well.

Christian Zettlmeissl

Pond construction expert

Our former retail salesman and business economist in the skilled trades has been on board since 2010. Entrusted with many tasks from the outset thanks to his inquisitive and professional manner, he has now taken the dealers under his wing. Thanks to many personal phone calls and meetings, people now talk to him in a very personal way, even if the rest of the office doesn't understand every word of his Franconian chats with his southern dealer colleagues. In autumn 2013, he successfully passed Paragraph 11 for fish expertise in trade. He has become a great advisor for long and complicated filter consultations at our premises. Thanks to his experience in the world of telephone sales, he is also an employee who is happy to take on a "difficult" conversation.

Regina Amend

Koi expert

Regina has become something of an all-rounder at our company. She always helps out wherever help is needed. And during the peak season, help is often needed at many of the ponds. Her passion has made her an institution in the fish hall, where she takes care of all maintenance, installation and supply. She can also install any spare part in many technical devices. Thanks to her long service, she is familiar with even very old products and also helps with her expertise in the office and when serving our customers in the shop.

Manuel Maul

Warehouse expert

Our old hand has been with us the longest after Stefanie. He was there at the beginning in Langenselbold. You could also describe him as the heart and soul of the company, who sacrifices all his time for us and is always there. Without him, thousands fewer parcels would have left our gates to customers. He likes to glue, repair and tinker with new ideas, filters, front piping or distributors. When you give him a task, you know that not only will it get done, but you won't have to worry about it anymore. Thanks to his long service with the company, he is in charge of the warehouse. His colleagues trust him blindly and push him to perform at his best.

Michael Mertz

Packing room expert

He also started with us as a temporary worker and was hired permanently after the season. With his calm manner, he helps us avoid getting overwhelmed during the summer rush. Thanks to him, up to 500 parcels are sent out to you every day. Over the years, he has been fully trained in the workshop so that complaints and special cases can continue to be resolved quickly. His speciality is preparing the picked goods for the packers. He makes sure that every item ordered finds its right place and searches for human error in "Sherlock Holmes style". And he finds almost everything.

Ambre Montgomery-Wesner

Order picking expert

Just call me "Micky". Micky started with us in 2015 as a temporary worker because she wanted to get stuck in. And she has been doing just that ever since, always helpful and enjoying her work. No one picks orders as quickly and efficiently as she does. Thanks to her, we don't have to worry about chaotic warehousing with an IT system, as she knows every storage location and every box like the back of her hand. She learned how to "club" at night in the flower wholesale market. She sometimes leaves our lads speechless with her witty remarks. She keeps our warehouse even cleaner than before. When I asked her for a staff photo, she came to work the next day wearing a dress.

Melanie Williams

Customer Service Specialist

She has been supporting us in the office team since 2015. Thanks to her background in customer service and sales, we didn't have to explain anything to her about office technology. Melanie threw herself into what was a new subject for her and has completely absorbed the koi material into her DNA. She keeps track of the fish stock in the fish hall and lovingly takes care of every koi request. The fact that she doesn't get overwhelmed is probably due to her many years of experience working for a financial services provider. Every day, she dashes home for a few minutes to feed her Chihuahua. After this short break, she jumps back behind the counter, answers the phone or tackles the next order from the online shop.

Slavisa Prskalo

Warehouse expert

Our "Slavi/Slavo" has been a permanent member of the team since 2017. He started out as a temporary worker with us in 2016. A fellow Croatian, he learned German in record time, considering that he was already speaking it fluently after just one year. He is a versatile employee in the warehouse, thanks to his past experience in Croatia. He has worked as a lorry driver, furniture assembler and, for many years, as a manager in a large warehouse. His physical stature, strengthened by years of professional handball, naturally helps him pack hundreds of parcels and packages for dispatch every day. He has remained loyal to the sport to this day, albeit now more often as a spectator. His comment during his first days as a temporary employee with us was: "They're all a bit crazy here, so I fit right in!" That's why we're glad to have him on the team. On weekends, he keeps an eye on things, as he now even lives on the property.

Kirsten Kellner

Service expert

Another career changer from the world of fine dining and a good friend of Marcus, who joined us during the "strange times of 2020". Trained from the ground up, he is versatile and always helpful to his colleagues. He takes great pleasure in ensuring that all the Hiblows, pumps and UV lamps can be quickly returned to customers as soon as they arrive at our premises for a variety of reasons. It's always nice to see when a customer stands in front of us, completely desperate, and he can put a smile back on their face in no time at all. He demonstrates his skills, whether it's replacing membranes, descaling pumps or reassembling completely dismantled Pro Clear devices. He is also responsible for all incoming goods.

Michael Webers

Customer service expert

Part of our office team since 2019. A highly trained and articulate employee who handles all types of telephone calls for us: order calls, complaint calls, advice calls, enquiry calls, information calls, thank you calls, etc. If you ever send us a defective pump or similar item, there's a good chance that this process will pass across his desk, as he always deals with complaints as quickly as possible. If there is ever an error to be found in our Excel spreadsheets or formulas, he is the right man for the job, as he has an extremely good knack for complex tasks. Thanks to him, we have improved and simplified many of our processes. For example, an old "tube telephone" in the warehouse has been replaced by a chat function with the workshop.

Cristina Lucaci-Antoci

Warehouse expert

Our good soul has been working in the warehouse since 2020. She takes care of our many parcels. Despite her small stature, she gives the "strong boys" in the packing room a run for their money and makes them sweat. She also takes care of our many fillings and repackaging of pond care products and liquids. She generally works flawlessly and as cleanly as you have ever seen. Her home is Romania, where she would like to travel again sometime in the future to tend to her garden full of flowers.

Rebecka Stichel

Accounting expert

Rebecka has been supporting Stefanie in accounting and purchasing since 2022. She takes care of your invoices, payments and all kinds of statistics and administrative stuff that you have to fill out, calculate and submit on time in Germany these days. When it's not raining, she cycles to work. Otherwise, she prefers to drive big, powerful cars. This contrasts sharply with her two miniature dachshunds, which you have to search for in the car. She is a passionate skier who takes advantage of every snowflake under the floodlights on German hills.

Selina Sasse

Customer Service Specialist

She has been our youngest member of the customer service team since 2020. Her connection to fishing comes from years of fishing and boating holidays in Sweden with her father. If you hear loud barking in the office, it's probably her Canarian Mastiff "Ursel", who now looks after us. In her free time, she enjoys walking her dog. Not only does she take care of all office tasks, she also keeps an eye on our social media presence, such as Facebook and Instagram. She stays up to date with this fast-moving topic through training courses.

Sylvia Franz

Warehouse expert

Probably our most animal-loving employee, but there are many others in the team who love animals too. Her dog Bailey has become our office dog, greeting everyone happily and loudly when she comes to work. She is always a little offended when she has to go home in the afternoon. Her playmate, a cat, is waiting for her there. And when she goes to see the two ponies, she is happy again. Sylvia meticulously takes care of our feed kitchen, repackages everything into small containers and fulfils many requests for "super-special feed mixes". During the season, she helps Micky with order picking and is also available for other tasks, such as in the fish hall.

Mirel Andrei

Warehouse expert

Joined us in 2021 as a temporary worker. We didn't want to let an employee like him go. Part of the dream team in the packing room. It's always fun to watch the little competition with Stevan to see who can pack more parcels in a day. But don't worry, this works to your advantage, because neither of them wants to leave anything until the next day. Worked as a chef for 6 years and still does it passionately in his spare time. Otherwise, he now shows his daughter the world, whether in his home country of Romania or by explaining the rules of football and handball. He enjoys travelling and goes on lots of trips.

Stevan Lucanovic

Warehouse expert

He joined us with Mirel in 2021 as a temporary worker and is another member of the dream team in the packing room. He is a Croatian compatriot of Slavi, and they enjoy teasing each other in their native language. He is a "bank" for our daily hard work and has a knack for beautifying our premises, as he is a trained painter and plasterer. Previously working full-time in this field, our company has been sparkling and shining more beautifully since he joined us, and there are no more construction sites on our premises.

Burkhard Reichhold

Turned his hobby into a profession in the last millennium. At that time, he often visited Japan with his former company and came across "colourful koi". Back home, he wanted to have these fish swimming in his garden. So the first pond was built. Many more renovations, pond extensions and other installations followed. Since founding "Burkhard Reichhold – Everything for the Koi Pond", he has been an advocate of high-quality products at fair market prices. Fast delivery times, full delivery capability and excellent customer service are close to his heart. Thanks to him, many truths in the koi segment have come to light, as he has never shied away from educating his customers about the deceptions of the industry. With his ambition, experience and often golden touch, he has turned his hobby into his profession. He has been enjoying his well-deserved retirement since 2025.
