The Filtra Trickle Tower Medium effectively breaks down harmful waste dissolved in pond water (proteins, ammonium, nitrite, etc.) into harmless compounds. The dirty water is distributed into the chamber via a spray pipe, then the water falls down over large areas.

Trickle filters are ideal for breaking down harmful dissolved waste (such as proteins, ammonium and nitrite) into harmless compounds. The more fish there are in the pond, the more waste is produced. Aerobic bacteria convert this waste into nitrate. A trickle filter can
help you with this. It provides the biological stage after pre-cleaning by, for example, sieves, drum filters or paper filters. These towers are also ideal as an extension of your biological filter stage. If you sometimes have problems with your ammonium or nitrite levels, you can place such a tower behind your existing filter to perfect your nitrification. If you have an existing gravity filter, simply connect the trickle filter after the pump. The outlet pipes must run freely into the pond.
The water is pumped into the trickle tower via a Ø 50 mm spray pipe. The water flows back into the pond through the individual chambers via a perforated base. In the process, many water droplets hit the next layer, burst and ensure good oxygen enrichment.
To fill the filter, we recommend Siporax, New² Bio Crystal, Hel-X®, AquaClear, Nana Taro or even oyster shells as filter media. These filter media are lightly coated with oxygen and are ideal for the development of beneficial bacteria for nitrification. Especially in the warm season, the oxygen ensures optimal aeration in the pond. However, always use porous filter media so that the bacteria can colonise.

When filling the chambers of the Nana Taro B.B. Roll, one large unit fits per floor.
For materials such as New Bio Crystal, zeolite, etc., 100 litres of filter material fits into the filter.
To prevent the filter material from being washed out, place a filter media support in front of the outlets. One pad is sufficient. You only need to cut it in half.
